Jacob Walters stood before the sink and looked at the face that was staring back at him in the mirror. It was a haggard face. A face that had weathered a lifetime of disappointments. "I was looking through some of my old floppy disks the other day and I came across several quite short chapters of a story I wrote sometime back. Unfortunately the disk was scrambled so I don't know if I can recover the other chapters. But on re-reading these two I realised they tell a story in themselves. So I thought I'd post them.
